When I was asked to write a testimonial about my school by one of my teachers then I was like,
‘How can I write a lifetime worth of memories into one page? If I start writing about it, it would be bigger than The Lord of the Rings.’
Every time I think about my school, it takes me to a journey down the memory lane, through the lands of sweet nostalgia. God! Where should I start?
This school taught me so many things that made me who I am right now. I joined railway school when I was in my 6th class. I was terrified at first because this was my first big school and I never sat in a class full of 40 students. But gradually, that terror turned into a feeling that I don’t have 40 strangers sitting with me but I now have 40 friends for life who will be with me no matter what. During my 7th standard, things started to take a good shape.
I got excellent teachers like Radha Madam, Vinay Sir, Kalyani Madam, Baxala Madam, Jayashree Madam etc. and they have shaped my thought process so beautifully that I am forever in debt to them. From the long-long classes to the exciting games periods, from the funny PT sessions during cold Saturday mornings to the rough football matches in the evenings, from participating at inter-school competitions to begging teachers to leave us for games, from bitter quarrels to patching up things the next day, from lunch break brainstorming sessions to playing games with little kids, from cheerful days to a teary eyed farewell, I have experienced it all in my school. Railway school made me realize that I can work even harder, it made me realize that I have a speaker in me, that I can relieve my fears, that I can make friends too and on the top of everything it gave me a wonderful life to cherish till the end of my time.
I love my school and I miss those days where I used to come at least half an hour early so that I could spend a few moments in the school. I came in alone and I left with brothers and sisters for life and a head full of memories. I feel myself to be fortunate to be a part of such an incredible endeavor.
